THURSDAY: DUCHAMP

"Everything important I have done, can be put in a suitcase"

Marcel Duchamp // Boîte-en-valise // Box in a Valise

Known for his 'ready mades', Marcel Duchamp also created meticulously constructed minature replicas of his work. The replicas are housed in an expanding leather briefcase and include some of his most well known pieces. These include Nude Descending a Staircase (No. 2) and of course his Fountain. Roughly 300 versions of the box have been created, all made by Duchamp, with seven editions made between 1941 and 1968.
