THURSDAY: SOPHIE TAEUBER-ARP












SOPHIE TAEUBER-ARP (1889 - 1943)

Born in Switzerland, married to Dada artist Jean Arp + a teacher of textiles at the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts, Sophie Taeuber-Arp was an incredibly talented. With her textile works being some of the earliest forms of Constructivism, along with her contemporary Piet Mondrian, Taeuber-Arp dabbled in everything from textiles + sculpture to choreography + dance. Performing at the Cabaret Voltaire she took part as both a dancer and puppeteer, making her own costumes, sets + puppets.
